Recent Hiatas

I have been taking sometime off from playing poker lately. I have noticed though that Scorepoker is back up, and I have to say they have some bugs to work out in there software.
Just a quick update, this Sunday Mike is hosting a Tourny so i ll be there.
Canada Day went very well as the family and I went to Port Franks to swim and spend the day at the beach. This was really a fun day and we all enjoyed our selves.
The sunburn I got the week before has started to peel now....
Well thanks for your time will post soon my results from the tourny.

General

Recently my poker stories, have really been just lessons.
I am learning more and more and growing with every hand run down.
If I was playing with profesionals, then I could play a more refinded game however, I will continue to get donked out. Why I ask....
If I knew I would not be writing this post.
Some times I just feel like a fish

Friday Night Poker

This week I decided last minute to play a heads up game against Mike. Mike mentioned we should try to get some more guys, and after the calling was done we got one more with Randy "Crippler" making the event a three way match.
We started with I beleive 5000 in chips.
It was clearly evident that the cards were just mot gonna come out for me this night, so I relied on some pre flop raising 3x the big blind at any level of the blinds and if I got called and missed my flop i would just fold.
The Crippler went out fairly early giving Mike quite the chip lead so I was getting bullied, and really no cards to fight back with pre-flop.
This really gave me no chance and Mike won the first match fairly easily.
I would love to post some hands, bu there really was none that I could convey, so I won't
Hot off the press, I just got outed in the Poker Stars Free roll Blogger tournament.
I lost second hand in when I had 9 J offsuit and the turn came up with one J. I figured if he has something better the I'm done and that is just what happened. He had QQ, and they held up. Oh well will try next year...

Online Bonus and General Rants....

A fellow Canadian Poker Forum member PMed me about this bonus at Pacific Poker. He gets a referal fee and whom ever signs up gets up to 50 dollars in bonus'. Sounds like the standard bonus that you see across the board at different online sites but there is an additional 25 dollar bonus bringing it to 75 dollars. If anyone is interested let me know so I can pass this you along offer.
Personally I prefer Stars as it has a nice layout.
Looks like Saturday Night Poker will shape up with our usual suspects. I cannot wait to play the live games. It always so much fun.
The wife is having a yard sale on Saturday, so I'll be busy most of the day....plus I need some poker money anyway, lol like I'll ever see that money.
I wish I could win more, but just playing is not that bad too....

Good run of cards.....

Well, this week end I had a good run of cards online. I have played in a couple of SNG's and had done very well.
I'm starting to get a little bit better as now I'm starting to keep some of the money(withdrawing it).
I have recently applied to Stars' blogger freeroll, which U will see at the bottom of this page.
Lets hope I get picked, and wish me luck.
Work was crazy this week with the temps. reaching over 30 dgrees, so as you could imagine I was busy fixing A/C's.
I think this week I'll take a break for cards, and resume next week when we have our live Saturday Night Poker Series matches.

Friday Night, Heads Up...

Well, last night Mike and I played some heads up NL Hold em. Starting stakes were 7000 blinds every 15 mins. Second hand in Mike holds pocket Aces they crack to my set of Queens, two of which were from the board. We go back and forth with the stacks, when with about 3k I move all-in with Ace King.Mike calls and shows 99, oh boy I think...Flop is all rags, Turn another rag, I'm drawing to an Ace or King now. Wouldn' t you know it, I hit my King on the River.
I squeak out and win Heads Up match one, later, deep in the blind stucture.
Match two was a much looser stlye of a game and Mike won this one. In the final hand I have 36 o and flop two pair. I raise 300 and Mike calls. Turn was an Ace. Scarry since the st8 was shaping up but with that in mind I just checked letting Mike catch up. River is a 7, I figure if has has a 4, well good for him. Im all-in Mike shows his 4,and we talk about how we I could have played that better. All in all pretty good experience points an account Mike and I have really played Heads Up against each other before.
Now I don't want to give up all my tricks now.....

Keeping up on my Omaha 8 Free Rolls at Stars

Ok, so I continue to play my free rolls every night at Stars 9:30. I really enjoy this Limit Omaha 8 game. There are a lot of donkeys, so be prepared to get beat sometimes. Keep a tight starting hand selection and you sould do jst fine.
I enjoying watching Poker Night Live on the tele. Funny how people play sometimes. It's even funnier when you see the hole cards.
So my daughter wins a 16" boys bike in a colouring contest this week. She just got a new one for her birthday, so she gives it to her brother. She says "Dad I was always gonna give it to him...."
What a great girl.
Keep er up

Saturday Night Poker....

Ok, my night to host our usual home "Saturday Night Poker" game.
The usual, 2 games both small stakes.
Side note: I really have to get back to what made me a decent poker player....
Recently, it just seems to me since I have read more books on the subject and it seems to me that I'm more at a cross roads now adays.
Anyway one of my mistakes:AsKd on the button(good steal chance) raise 3X BB SB calls, BB calls
turn 3s Qh Kh. SB checks, BB checks, what the heck I think...is this a trap?
check
turn 5c
SB all-in, BB folds, I have to fold have him on set.. plus to much to call with top pair big kicker.
turns out he's bluffing
I am in forth place w/ low stack and I'm posting what is probably my last hand as I just have enough to cover BB. Wouldn't you know, UTG raises, MP calls and SB calls,
"huh.. I think" lets just watch this since my 7c 2h don t look to good now...
turns out one player loses out and I barely make the money finishing in 3rd. lol
Randy(the crippler) finishes 4th, I hear him say "What there was a third place pay." lol we usually only pay the 2 spots but this Saturday we decided to give money back for 3rd.
It'ss the second game and that usually brings the best of us, but this night the cards just were not there.
This session i finish 8th. Probably my worst finish in a while. However it was not as bad as it seemed. I was at about starting stack 6000, after re buy period and lost half my stack with As10h and lost to Rockets, as we both hit the flush, but Sidwell had the red one.
Anyway (move ahead) Mike goes all-in UTG two hands later and in EP I call this raise (puts me all-in too) with 8d 10d he has j j and it holds up.....shuffle up and deal as I was the dealer after Ian the first man out needed a long deserved break.

These home games are great because the caliber and respect for each other is mutual. There are no nobs in this group which makes it so much fun.
Anyway earlier that week my son's birth day went well. The big 4. Just a quiet family thing.
My wife makes a great Betty Cr.... cake. Oh so moist.
Well enough for today, keep it real
